Elkhart to South Bend International Airport

Elkhart sits about 20 miles east of South Bend, roughly 30 minutes by road. The flat rate to South Bend International (SBN) is $75 for one passenger plus $10 for each additional, which means a family of four pays $105 rather than four separate fares.

Flat rate, not metered. The price is agreed before you book and does not move with traffic or the time of day.

We track your inbound flight. Give us the flight number on a return booking and the pickup adjusts if you land late.

Chicago is a different job. O'Hare and Midway from Elkhart are roughly two and a half hours. The rate is $350 plus $25 each additional, and these need booking ahead because they take a vehicle out of circulation for most of a day.

Early departures are standard work. A 3am pickup for a 6am departure is a normal booking, not a special request.

Full detail on all six airports we serve is on the airport shuttle page.

Elkhart Amtrak station

Elkhart's Amtrak station sits at 131 Tyler Avenue and is busier than South Bend's, handling over 20,000 passengers a year. It is served by two long-distance trains: the Lake Shore Limited between Chicago and New York or Boston, and the Floridian between Chicago and Miami.

Both run at hours that make a taxi the practical option rather than a luxury. The eastbound Lake Shore Limited calls at Elkhart around half past midnight. No bus runs at that hour and rideshare availability in Elkhart County overnight is unreliable. We do.

Book the night before for a late departure. A midnight train means a pickup around 11:30pm, and that is not an hour to be improvising.

Tell us if the train is late. On arrivals, long-distance services run behind more often than not. Call when you know and we will move the pickup rather than leaving you on the platform.

The station has free parking if driving yourself makes more sense for your trip. We would rather tell you that than have you feel oversold.

Schedules change. Check current times at Amtrak before booking. More on station transfers on our Amtrak and South Shore taxi page.

What Elkhart calls us for

Airport and station transfers

South Bend International, the Chicago airports, and both Amtrak stations. The trips where being late has a real cost.

Medical appointments

Non-emergency transport to Elkhart General, clinics across the county, and specialist appointments in South Bend or Goshen. Accessible vehicles available on request.

The daily commute

Regulars who ride the same route every working day, with monthly billing rather than paying trip by trip. Common when a car is off the road or a licence is suspended.

Work and shift travel

Elkhart County runs a lot of shift work, and shifts do not respect bus timetables. We answer the phone at every hour.

Shopping and errands

Grocery runs with room for the bags, and trips to University Park Mall in Mishawaka.

Nights out and events

Concerts, the RV Hall of Fame, Notre Dame games, and any evening where someone plans to have a drink. Groups travel together in one van.

Where we go from Elkhart

Elkhart sits in the middle of our service area, so trips to neighbouring towns are routine rather than special arrangements.

We also run to Goshen, Niles, Plymouth and across the state line into Michigan without extra arrangement.

Booking a cab in Elkhart

Call any hour. Dispatch is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, on 574-233-9599. Same-day local rides are usually no problem.

Book ahead for airports, trains and game weekends. A day's notice guarantees a vehicle. For a Chicago run, more.

No surge pricing. The rate is the rate on a Notre Dame Saturday, on New Year's Eve, and in a snowstorm.

Say what you need. Wheelchair access, a child seat, extra luggage or a group all change which vehicle we send. Tell us at booking, not on the day.

Pay in the cab. Cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, chip and contactless. Card terminals in every vehicle.
